National Framework for Malaria Elimination (NFME) 2016-2030

The Government has launched the National Framework for Malaria Elimination (NFME) 2016-2030 to achieve:

• Zero Indigenous cases of Malaria by 2027
• Sustaining elimination by 2030

Primaquine as anti-relapse therapy:

In the updated recommendation by the WHO on 30th November 2024,
primaquine should be given at high dose:
0.5 mg/kg/day for 14 days
or
1 mg/kg/day for 7 days

for prevention of relapses in patients with uncomplicated P. vivax or P. ovale malaria.

Note:
Recommended primaquine dosage as per NVBDCP is:
0.25 mg/kg/day for 14 days
